oh man... i just got so worked up over some stuff that a friend of mine in idaho said to me on messenger. He was talking about the people in louisiana and he said they are all a bunch of lazy blacks who the government has to support now. WHAT!?? oh man... then he said that they were all gang bangers who are stealing tvs and stuff... to which i said, "well don't believe every thing the news tells you, they act like that is EVERYONE doing that, when really it is only a few cases but they give everyone a bad name" (how would you like to be a catholic priest after all the child molestation stuff came out... there are plenty of perfectly good honest catholic priests but i'm sure you would have to deal with a lot of critism or skepticism) so anyway, that made me angry and this is what i wrote to him... (i hope no one else is ignorant enough to have that opinion)

i saw i picture of a white dude in the newspaper holding some groceries above his head wading through deep water and the caption said "man searches for food to bring home to his family" or some bullshit... and then another newspaper had a picture of a black dude carrying the same kind of stuff, it was almost like the same picture but it was a black dude and the caption said "carrying food through the storm after looting a nearby grocery store". ef that. the white dude looted too, they just didn't choose to say anything about it... that stuff is complete bullshit, if you lived around here you would know that there are just lots of blacks that live here, and the only reason that they're the majority there is cause all the white people had enough money to evacuate before the storm hit.

Herbie seriously, i can't believe you're saying this about people who are trapped in a disaster area. i'm sure things are much different when you're there. it's easy to say stuff about them like their lazy and stuff when you're not there and you have no idea what they're going through. give me a break. plus i'm sure they assumed they would have been rescued much faster which is why they are probably there. and actually when i think about it, i bet you that police officers and government officials probably TOLD them not to panic and to stay where they were and wait to be rescued. that sounds totally logical. anyway, if that kind of stuff happened where i live, i might be one of the ones who was trapped, but there are so many black people here that people wouldn't even give a shit or want to help out because they automatically assume that the people are lazy. and i could easily see myself being one of the ones who couldn't go anywhere. And don't forget that the amount of homeless people and crazy people who live on the streets are like ten times the amount of those in idaho... (because of the climate) so the dumbasses who are making the news and stuff are mostly those guys. Imagine being trapped in a place with a bunch of homeless and crazies... and then, on top of THAT people don't even want to rescue you BECAUSE of that. Give me a freakin break herbie! i sure as hell wouldn't want to leave my house if i knew there were tons of homeless people who might be mentally messed up outside on the streets.

my mom just made another valid point. when hurricanes are coming, and i know this from experience... most people tape up there windows or board them up.. buy water and a few supplies (not nearly enough) and stay in their houses to wait it out. (my family has done this several times) often trees are uprooted, maybe some roofs are blown off, mobile homes are obliterated.. but most people in houses are just fine. The power goes out and you can't drive anywhere, and that's why you have the supplies. within a couple days the power is back on, and most of the obstacles are cleared from the streets.. no biggie. No one there expected the levies to break. no one there prepared for that. That was an unfortunate disaster that no one forsaw. so here are a bunch of people waiting in their houses and all the sudden the city floods WAY more than expected. And people end up climbing to their roofs or getting trapped in houses, and thousands of people died. a lot of people had no other choice but to wait it out. Don't think of it like "the day after tomorrow" where some people miraculously escape sure death through hundreds of miles of snow and happen to meet up with each other at the exact same spot. This isn't a cheesy movie. This is real life. things are much more complicated. Before you go judging other people's situations imagine what you would feel like to be there. Many people are also grieving during all of this for the loved ones they have lost. Many may have no hope. In fact maybe you shouldn't judge them at all. They are just people like you and i. How can you support people going to irag to stick their noses in other people's business, and NOT support things in our OWN country with our OWN citizens!!!! it's absolutely rediculous.
